아주 오랜 옛날이다.10년도 훨씬 더 된 옛날...
지구촌 영상음악이라고 당시 MTV보급이 되지 않았던 우리나라에
월드팝의 뮤비를 보여주는 프로그램이 있었다.
나는 그 프로를 꽤 즐겨봤었는데 녹화해서 테입이 늘어질 정도록 보고 또 보았다.
앞에서도 언급했듯이 난 촌사람이라 뮤비를 봤을때 꽤 신선한 충격으로 다가왔다.
그러다가 어느 날 이 프로그램의 이름을 딴 음악지가 창간됐다.
창간호의 선물이었는지 그 후 특별선물이었는지는 정확히 기억나지 않지만
그때 당시 5,6편의 뮤비가 들어있는 테입이 부록이었다.
기억나는게 로드 스튜어트의 "Have I told ..."하고
또 유덕화의 진정난수....흠...그리고..이 노래 I try~~~!!!
정말 듣고 완전 '뻑'이 갔다.
당시에 흔치 않았던 진한 러브씬때문에 몰래 몰래 틀어봤던 기억이...ㅡㅡ;;
음악은 좋은데 당시 내가 살던 곳에는 최신앨범이 바로 바로 공급되지 않았기때문에
나중에는 티비 스피커에 나오는 노래를 마이크로 녹음해서 듣기도 했었다.
그러고보니...난..참 극성적인 아이였던 거 같다.
암튼 당시 내가 해석하기에도 어렵지 않은 가사에
지금 들어보면 상업적일 수도 있는 멜로디지만은
그때 느껴지던 그 애절함...가슴이 저린다.
'Nothing gonna...'나 'Friend give...'같은 식상한 곡보다
훨씬~~훨씬~~더 많이 아끼는 곡이다.
사실 그 이전엔 느끼한거 같아 혐오했는데 이 노래는 정말,
참 괜찮았다.
